What is Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold laser therapy is a novel treatment that has recently gained popularity as veterinarians discovered its utility in assisting pets in recovering from illness and injury.
Our vets are passionate about providing the highest quality treatment for your pet and cold laser therapy provides a safe, non-invasive, and effective way of alleviating pain and encouraging your pet's return to their normal, healthy selves.
Cold laser therapy can help to improve a wide range of conditions. These include joint and muscle pain, muscle spasms, and arthritis symptoms.
The Cold Laser Therapy Treatment Process
Cold laser therapy treatment involves the movement of a handheld laser wand back and forth over the part of your pet's body that has sustained an injury or is causing health issues.
Your pet will experience a pleasant and warm sensation in the area being treated, which he or she will likely find enjoyable and relaxing. Cold laser therapy sessions at our veterinary hospital last approximately 20 minutes.
The number and frequency of these treatments will depend on your pet's specific healthcare needs.
What are cold lasers?
Cold laser therapy uses a light-emitting diode (also known as an LED) or a low-intensity laser (also known as a cold laser) to enhance and stimulate cell growth, improve healing and relieve pain in your pet.
The depth of tissue affected by a laser is determined by the type of light it emits.
The higher the wavelength (green, blue, or purple-colored light), the deeper the laser penetrates your pet's body. Similarly, lower wavelengths of light (such as red) will be absorbed by your pet's skin. We can tailor the wavelength used for your pet's laser therapy in order to best target their pain or health condition.
